When purchasing a registration you are only acquiring the right to keep or assign the registration to a vehicle on or before the expiry date stated on the certificate. Certificates can be extended and vehicles can be changed multiple times, this is the purchasers responsibility once the purchase is complete.

Any registration will remain property of REG247 (if we are the owner) or property of the seller in other instances, until the final payment has been received by the seller.

2.2 Payment

Once a Buying Price is agreed to purchase a registration, any full, part or initial payment is non - refundable unless the transfer purchase should fail through Our default for any reason. In that case our liability would be limited to a full refund of all monies paid only

As per Our verbal or written contract with you, once a part payment or deposit is taken at any point, the final balance of the Buying Price is due within 7 calendar days. Failure to pay the balance within the 7 day period will result in forfeit of all monies paid and result in the registration being released back for sale.

The maximum amount of any transaction that may be paid on a credit card is £5,000. Any balance of the Buying Price more than £5,000 would need to be paid by another acceptable method.

2.3 Supplying your Personalised Registration
REG247 may supply your registration in 1 of 2 ways.

1. On a certificate. This will be in the form of either a V750 Certificate of Entitlement or a V778 Retention Document. These documents are valid for up to 10 years and is your responsibility to renew and extend them before they expire.

2. Assign and transfer the registration directly to a vehicle. This will be done by REG247 via the DVLA.

REG247 can supply most personalised registrations on a V750 Certificate of Entitlement (V750) OR a V778 Retention Document (V778). These Government Certificates are issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) and can be valid for up to 10 years.

Once We have supplied the registration on a Government Certificate REG247 LTD is not liable for any loss incurred for not extending or renewing the V750/ V778 as per the instructions on the certificate.

All personalised registrations supplied by REG247 can be transferred by:
1. REG247 via the DVLA
2. Our trading partners and dealers
3. Our customers

DVLA is a registered trademark of the Driver & Vehicle Licencing Agency. REG247 LTD is not affiliated to the DVLA or DVLA Personalised Registrations. REG247 is a recognised reseller of DVLA registrations.

REG247 deem the contract to transfer and purchase to be Complete once the balance has been paid and the personalised registration has been assigned to your vehicle with the DVLA or when we have confirmed your V750 Certificate of Entitlement or V778 Retention Document has been posted to you. We will confirm the transfer is Complete by email or phone call.

2.4 Availability and Errors

All Registrations on the Site are subject to price confirmation, availability check and VAT status check. By purchasing a Registration through the ‘BUY’ button on Our Website it does not guarantee availability or the correct price. If the transfer / purchase should fail through Our default for any reason, Our liability will be limited to a refund of all monies paid only. REG247 must receive full payment for any purchase before a transfer or completion can take place.

1. Personalised Registration Sources

2. Registrations which are owned by the Government. We are authorised by the Government to make these available to buy (by way of transfer) subject to these Terms and Conditions.

3. Registrations which We are selling on behalf of 3rd parties (not owned by REG247). We may broker a deal between you and the seller (by way of transfer) of the registration from the seller to you, subject to these Terms.

2.5 Consumer Rights

These Terms and Conditions in no way affect your Consumer Rights as a consumer but please be aware that all personalised vehicle registrations and acrylic number plates are exempt from The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. There is no right to return or refund. This means any deposit or part payment is non-refundable once a purchase is confirmed by way of email or phone call.

2.6 Liability

Should the purchase or transfer fail through Our default for any reason, Our liability will be limited to a refund of all monies paid by you. REG247’s liability is limited to the initial vehicle registration transfer or supply of a V750 / V778 document. Completion of registration transfers or issuing of certificates typically occur within 14 business days, We will notify you when the purchase is Complete, though it's important to note that DVLA processing times may vary and cannot be assured.

2.7 Timescale

We will endeavour to complete all transfers within 14 working days. In rare circumstances longer delays are possible for example We may be awaiting paperwork from the DVLA.
The full balance of a purchase is due within 7 calendar days from the initial part payment/ deposit being taken. Please note as per paragraph 2.4. Part payments and deposits are not refundable. All documents will be posted by Royal Mail, 1st class.

2.8 Certificate Extensions (V750/ V778)

It is very important to keep your certificate in date as failure to do so could result in loss of the registration through the DVLA. REG247 will accept no liability of loss if you fail to extend your certificate once the purchase is complete.

2.9 Vehicle Suitability

It is your sole responsibility to ensure that the registration you are buying is suitable for your vehicle. The DVLA states that a registration cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it is. For example, you could not transfer the registration AB12 ABC onto a vehicle registered on January 1st 2012 as new style 12 plates can only be assigned to vehicles registered on or after 1st March 2012. We have warnings in place to notify you of this before you purchase but it is your sole responsibility to check the age of your vehicle is suitable before purchasing. Please call us if you are unsure.

2.10 Withdrawal of a Registration Plate

In very rare and exceptional circumstances the DVLA may withdraw an already issued registration plate and ban the use and transfer. The withdrawal of a registration plate by the DVLA is very uncommon and usually happens if the DVLA deem the registration plate to be a controversial or offensive word, phrase or acronym. In an instance where REG247 supplied the registration mark to the current or any previous owner that the DVLA withdrew, REG247 will accept no liability as all registrations are sold in good faith. No responsibility will be accepted by REG247 for resulting action taken by the issuing authority. Any claim or compensation action would be redirected to the DVLA as REG247 considers it the DVLA’s responsibility to ensure all registrations issued are appropriate for display on vehicles before their release.

3. SELLING A PERSONALISED REGISTRATION
3.1 Types of sale

There are two types of sale which may take place when selling a registration with REG247.

1. REG247 may buy your registration directly from you where We are the buyer. Once We have agreed a price (called ‘Selling Price’ in this document) with the seller, We will complete a purchase by way of transfer and make payment to you in full by bank transfer when the transfer has completed.

2. REG247 may find a buyer for your registration, acting (on behalf of REG247) as a broker. In this instance when the seller has agreed a Selling Price and given Us permission and confirmation to sell the registration via email or phone call, a conditional contract begins and you must sell your registration at the Selling Price providing We have found a buyer who wants to purchase the registration and is willing to pay a sum so that you end up with the Selling Price. The Buying Price will not be disclosed under any circumstances. All calls are recorded in case we need to provide evidence of the agreed price or contract being entered into.

3.2 The sale of a Registration

When We are selling a registration acting (on behalf of REG247) as a broker We make money on the difference between the Selling Price and Buying Price. REG247 and are under no obligation to maximise the Selling Price. If the transfer should fail through the buyer’s default, We are not liable for any payment to the seller but will ensure documents and plate ownership is returned to the seller.

3.3 Offers

When an offer is made by a potential Buyer we will confirm their details and offer price before contacting a potential Seller. Offers will be made by phone or email and as a Seller you can decide your Selling Price based on the prices offered. The Selling Price is only agreed when you give us permission to sell the registration at the agreed Selling Price.

3. 4 Transferring of a Registration

When an offer is made by a potential Buyer we will confirm their details and offer price before contacting a potential Seller. Offers will be made by phone or email and as a Seller you can decide your Selling Price based on the prices offered. The Selling Price is only agreed when you give us permission to sell the regi stration at the agreed Selling Price.

You must send us your documentation as soon as possible once a sale is agreed to prevent any transfer delays or delayed payments to the seller. We will request a clear picture or scans of original documentation in most cases, unless the DVLA require original documents posting (V5c Logbook, V750 or V778).

If the registration is held on a V750 Certificate of Entitlement or V778 Retention Document, it is your sole responsibility to check the expiry date of the document before agreeing a sale. If the registration is held on a vehicle, the vehicle will require valid Tax and MOT or SORN within the last 5 years for a transfer to take place.

We will endeavour to complete all transfers within 14 working days. In rare circumstances longer delays are possible for example we may be awaiting paperwork from the DVLA.

3. 5 Payment to the Seller

Payment for the sale of a registration will only be made once the ownership of the registration has been transferred to REG247 if we are the buyer or to the Buyer if We are acting as a Broker. Before any transfer of ownership is made, we guarantee We will be in possession of full funds from the Buyer, ready to release to you the Selling Price as soon as the ownership change has taken place. There is no delay or pause between ownership change and our payment being made to the Seller, they typically happen within 1 hour of each other.
